The Strongest One

When I was a little girl, I didn’t just feel unsafe…

I lived unsafe.

It wasn’t a passing feeling.

It wasn’t occasional fear.

It was constant.

The kind of fear that sits in your chest.

The kind that makes you hyper-aware.

The kind that teaches you, without words:

You need to find a way to be okay.

And somewhere deep inside of me, I came to a conclusion:

If I could just be connected to the strongest one… I would be safe.

Not loved.

Not known.

Safe.

So I dreamed differently.

I didn’t dream about fairy tales.

I dreamed about protection.

I imagined what it would feel like to be covered…

to be connected to someone so strong that nothing could get to me.

Someone powerful enough that I wouldn’t have to be afraid anymore.

Maybe then… I could exhale.

Maybe your story doesn’t look exactly like mine…

But I know this:

There is a version of you that learned to look for safety in something visible.

Something strong.

Something that felt like it could keep you from being hurt again.

Maybe it was:

a relationship

a title

financial security

control

independence

Because when you grow up feeling unsafe…

you don’t chase dreams the same way.

You chase protection.

What Fear Teaches Us

Fear has a voice.

And for some of us, it started speaking early.

It says:

Don’t trust too much.

Stay guarded.

Figure it out on your own.

Find something strong enough so you won’t get hurt again.

And here’s the truth…

That little girl wasn’t wrong for wanting safety.

She was doing the best she could with what she knew.

She just didn’t know where true safety lived.

The Day Everything Shifted

When I came to know Jesus, I didn’t just meet a Savior…

I met strength.

Not the kind I had imagined.

Not loud.

Not forceful.

Not something I had to chase or attach myself to.

But steady.

Present.

Unshakable.

And something in me – the part that had always been bracing, always scanning, always trying to find safety –

recognized Him.

Because for the first time…

I didn’t have to go looking for strength.

Strength came close to me.

Who He Really Is

He is not just strong.

He is:

The Alpha and the Omega

The Beginning and the End

The Author and the Finisher

The Word that spoke everything into existence

The Redeemer of what was broken

The Deliverer from what once held you captive

The Healer of what still aches

The One who goes before you

The One who stands behind you as your rear guard

The Holy One who cannot be shaken

He is all in all.

And the safest place you will ever be…

is not beside power.

It is within His covering.

A Different Kind of Safety

What I didn’t know as a little girl…

is that real safety doesn’t come from attaching yourself to something strong in this world.

Because everything in this world –

no matter how strong it looks –

can shift.

Can fail.

Can leave.

Can’t hold everything together.

But God…

He doesn’t get tired.

He doesn’t miss anything.

He doesn’t lose control.

He doesn’t step away.

He doesn’t just have power – He is power.

And yet…

He is gentle with the scared parts of you.

For the One Who Still Feels Afraid

If you’re honest…

there are still moments.

Moments where you feel it again.

That tightening in your chest.

That instinct to protect yourself.

That need to control, to fix, to secure something – anything – so you won’t feel exposed.

And maybe you love Jesus…

but that fear still whispers.

Listen to me, sis:

God is not intimidated by the parts of you that still feel unsafe.

He doesn’t shame you for them.

He doesn’t rush you through them.

He meets you there.

Not as a distant God…

but as your covering.

The Strongest One Chose You

All those years…

I thought I needed to find the strongest one and connect myself to that strength in order to be safe.

But the truth?

The strongest One chose me.

Before I ever understood Him.

Before I ever trusted Him.

Before I ever felt safe.

He was already:

going before me

standing behind me

covering what I couldn’t see

protecting what I didn’t understand

And He’s been doing the same for you.

You Can Exhale Now

You don’t have to search for safety anymore.

You don’t have to attach yourself to power.

You don’t have to strive to be protected.

You don’t have to hold everything together.

You are already held.

By the Alpha.

By the Omega.

By the Beginning.

By the End.

By the strongest, safest, most faithful God there is.

And for the first time…

you can exhale.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

~ Revelation 1:8

“The Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.”

~ Isaiah 52:12

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

~ Psalm 46:1

Jesus…

You see the parts of me that still feel afraid.

The parts that learned early to stay guarded, to stay alert, to stay in control.

Thank You for not rushing me…

and for not leaving me there.

You are the strength I’ve always needed.

Not distant. Not harsh. Not conditional.

But steady. Covering. Faithful.

Teach my heart that I am safe with You.

Not just in theory… but in truth.

Heal the places that still brace for impact.

Quiet the fear that still whispers.

And help me rest… fully… in Your power.

Because You are the strongest One –

and I am Yours.

Amen. 💛
