Find Your Waters

I once saw a picture of a fish trying to climb a tree.

And I just stared at it for a minute… because honestly? That fish felt like me.

The idea was simple: a fish isn’t a failure because it can’t climb. It’s just in the wrong place. A fish was made to swim. Put it in water, and suddenly it’s graceful, strong, and exactly what it was created to be.

But put it on dry land, and it looks awkward, tired, and totally out of place – even though nothing about the fish actually changed.

And that hit my heart.

How many times have we stood in spaces that asked us to be someone we’re not?

We try to be louder when we’re gentle.

Tougher when we’re tender.

Smaller when God made us to shine.

And then we walk away thinking, What’s wrong with me?

But maybe nothing is wrong with you at all.

Maybe you’re just not in your waters.

God doesn’t create us randomly. He’s not up there tossing personalities, gifts, and hearts around like confetti. He made you on purpose – your softness, your strength, your humor, your deep feelings, your faith… all of it.

And when you’re where He placed you, you don’t have to try so hard to be “enough.”

You just get to be you.

Scripture I Love for This

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

~ Ephesians 2:10

That verse reminds me that God already thought about my life before I ever took a breath. He already knew where I would swim, where I would grow, and where I would shine.

So if you feel tired today…

If you feel out of place…

If you feel like you’ve been climbing when you were made for water…

Let this be your reminder, sis:

You’re not failing.

You’re just a fish.

And your waters are coming.

A Little Prayer

Jesus, if I’ve been standing where You never asked me to stand, gently move me where You want me to be. Help me trust how You made me and where You’re leading me. Teach me to rest in being who You created – not who I think I have to be. Amen.
