There was a season recently where I truly believed I had found “the place.” I thought, This is it, Lord. This is where I’m supposed to pour out my heart. This is my offering to You.
And I meant it sincerely.
I walked in wanting to love people well. To encourage. To help. To bring light into dark places. I care deeply about the people connected to that season, and many of them impacted my heart in ways I’ll never forget.
And to be clear – the people I served were never the problem. Some of the most beautiful, courageous, and meaningful moments came from simply loving and encouraging others and being loved and encouraged in return. Those moments matter deeply to me.
But over time, I realized that not everything was aligning the way it needed to. What I hoped would become a long-term fit simply wasn’t. And sometimes that’s hard to admit when you’ve poured your heart into something.
For a while, I kept trying to make it work because I thought maybe if I prayed harder, tried harder, or stayed longer, things would shift.
But eventually I realized something important:
Protecting your peace is not weakness.
Leaving something that no longer aligns is not failure. And moving forward does not mean you lost.
Because not every season is meant to last forever.
Sometimes God allows us to step into places to learn, grow, love people well, and then lovingly redirects our path.
One thing I’ve learned is this: the Holy Spirit brings peace, wisdom, clarity, and confirmation. And when something consistently steals your peace, it’s important to prayerfully pay attention.
And when I finally let go? God moved FAST.
He opened new doors. He reminded me that He is fully capable of redirecting our steps when something is no longer meant for us. And He gave me peace again.
Real peace.
Peace when I wake up.
Peace when I go to sleep.
Peace in my mind.
Peace in my body.
Peace in my spirit.
It feels like I can breathe again.
I share this because maybe someone else is holding onto something simply because they’re afraid to let go.
Sis… sometimes God’s faithfulness looks like provision. Sometimes it looks like protection. And sometimes it looks like giving you the courage to walk away from what no longer fits so He can lead you into what does.
And oh man … am I thankful.
